Oregon soldier murdered by Afghan ally - Albany Democrat Herald

In Salem, the Oregon Military Department released a statement about the death of an Oregon soldier murdered by an Afghan soldier in Afghanistan on Aug. 27.

The statement:

Mabry James Anders was born in Yuma Arizona on July 22, 1991. He entered the United States Army in January 2010. At the time of his death he was a Specialist in the United States Army assigned to Company A, 4th Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat, 4th Infantry Divison based in Fort Carson, CO.

He was killed in action at Kalagush, Afghanistan on August 27, 2012 at 7:35 a.m. He died of multiple wounds received from an Afghanistan National Army soldier.

“We are extremely proud of our son and the service he as done for our country. Mabry always gave everything his all and in the end he gave all he had. Mabry will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He is best known for his sense of humor, beaming smile, generosity and most of all friendship and love. We will miss his fearless spirit and love of life.“

Additional details regarding the return of the soldier to Oregon and Memorial Services will be provided when the final arrangements are confirmed.
